Michèle Mouton, in New manager WRC with FIA

Michèle Mouton, former world rally winning driver, has been appointed Manager of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), bringing a wealth of knowledge to the management and future of the sport.

In her role as the FIA’s WRC Manager, Michèle will be responsible for the co-ordination of all aspects of the Championship, including but not limited to safety, regulations and the calendar. She will represent the sport’s governing body on the majority of WRC events, working in close collaboration with the manufacturers, promoters and event organisers. Michèle will also continue to play an important role in the working group responsible for the future development of rallying.

Michèle Mouton said: “This is a very exciting and challenging opportunity, especially at a time when President Todt wants to significantly increase the profile of the sport and take it to new heights. I am looking forward to working with all the WRC stakeholders; together I believe we can bring new dynamism to our spectacular sport.”

Michèle Mouton was the first woman to win a round of the FIA World Rally Championship and went on to win a total four World Championship rallies in the 1980s. The Frenchwoman was also Vice Champion in the 1982 World Rally Championship, earning much respect not only for her driving, but also for her personality and passion.

Her roles in the future development of the WRC, as well as her position as President of the FIA’s Women & Motor Sport Commission, will also ensure she and the members are at the forefront of promoting new talent into the sport.
